      Let My Children Hear Music/The Charles Mingus Institute

      LET MY CHILDREN HEAR MUSIC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created in 1986 to promote the compositional legacy of musician and composer Charles Mingus through publishing, education, archival preservation, and performance. The Annual Charles Mingus High School Competition and Festival is produced by Sue Mingus and Let My Children Hear Music/The Charles Mingus Institute and Justin DiCioccio and Manhattan School of Music. The festival includes a film showcase, student jams, a full day of instrumental clinics exploring the music of Charles Mingus, three nights of performances by the Mingus Big Band at Jazz Standard, and the nationwide competition showcasing young jazz talent from high schools across the country. Outstanding soloists have an opportunity to perform with the Mingus Big Band at Jazz Standard. Distinguished past adjudicators include: Gunther Schuller, Conductor/Composer, Pulitzer-Prize and MacArthur Grant Winner; Ken Pullig, Professor, Berklee College of Music; Justin DiCioccio, Director, Manhattan School of Music Jazz Arts Program; Conrad Herwig, Chair of Jazz Studies, Rutgers University; Robin Eubanks, Jazz Professor, Oberlin College; and musician/educators Boris Kozlov, Ku-umba Frank Lacy, Scott Robinson, Randy Brecker, Seamus Blake, Vincent Herring, Donny McCaslin, Christian McBride, and many others.       Little Kids Rock

      Organizations: Little Kids Rock raises money to donate instruments, resources and training to public school teachers. $25 will help give one student an entire year's worth if instrumental music lessons rooted in popular music.
      Camps & Workshops: Little Kids Rock offers free professional development workshops for public schools teachers across the United States. At Little Kids Rock�s Modern Band workshops, teachers play guitar, keyboards, bass and drums, write and perform their own songs, and learn how to teach a Modern Band music program rooted in popular music at their schools.
      Fundraising: Little Kids Rock raises money to donate instruments, resources and training to public school teachers. $25 will help give one student an entire year's worth if instrumental music lessons rooted in popular music.

      The Midwest Clinic

      The Midwest Clinic is the world's largest international instrumental music education conference. Each December, approximately 17,000 participants representing 50 states and 30 countries, gather in Chicago, Illinois, at McCormick Place West. What began as 120 music directors meeting for six hours in a Chicago YWCA gym has now become the annual four-day music band and orchestra conference known as The Midwest Clinic International Band and Orchestra Conference. For almost 70 years, musicians, educators and people passionate about music education of all skill levels have gathered in Chicago for the largest music conference of its kind. The Midwest Clinic offers guests an array of clinics, performances and exhibits, as well as access to music and teaching icons. The conference will also focus on industry trends in music education.
