The Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s (DSO) 2017-2018 Paradise Jazz Series will conclude on June 9 with a one-night-only concert featuring Brazilian composer, pianist, and singer Ivan Lins.

Lins’ music has been performed by George Benson, Patti Austin, Sérgio Mendes, Barbra Streisand, Toots Thielemans, and many others. As a performer himself, he has released more than 35 albums, including two that have won Latin Grammy Awards.

Trumpeter and Fred A. and Barbara M. Erb Jazz Chair Terence Blanchard will sit in with Lins and his band for a few tunes.

The concert takes place Saturday, June 9 at 8 p.m. at Orchestra Hall, within Midtown Detroit’s Max M. and Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center.

Lins’ band includes Ivan Lins (vocals and keyboard), Leonardo Amuedo (guitar), Helio Alves (piano), Francisco Fattoruso (bass), and Gary Novak (drums).

Afterwards, Chicago Samba will headline a post-concert Brazilian jam session in The Peter D. and Julie F. Cummings Cube, across the William Davidson Atrium from Orchestra Hall.
