Renowned Conductors to Lead the 2015 NAfME All-National Honor Ensemble Program

The National Association for Music Education’s (NAfME) premier national honor ensembles will be led by four award-winning conductors. The nation’s most elite high school musicians will vie for the opportunity to rehearse and perform in a one-of-a-kind national honor program. The students must first compete at their local, district, and state level to become eligible for this honor.

Music For All Grants Tennessee High School Senior William D. Revelli Scholarship

Music for All, one of the largest educational 503(c) non-profit organizations dedicated to music-making, has chosen Mikaela Ray of Franklin H.S. in Franklin, Tennessee as the 2015 William D. Revelli Scholarship recipient.This annual scholarship of $1,000 was created in memory of Dr. William D. Revelli, one of America’s finest and most accomplished conductors, to help one graduating high school senior each year that is performing at the Music for All National Festival study music education at the university level.

The Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation announced today that it is accepting applications from students who have been admitted to Berklee College of Music to attend the Fall 2015 semester.  Students from the following 24 countries are encouraged to apply if they have been admitted to attend Berklee: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Spain, United States, Uruguay and Venezuela.

Four Baroque Singers Awarded with Master Class Training by Carmel Bach Festival

Bach, has named the winners of the 31st annual Virginia Best Adams Fellowship - Jana Miller (soprano), Janna Critz (mezzo-soprano), Brian Giebler (tenor) and David Rugger (baritone).

2015 Grammy Signature Schools Announced

The Grammy Foundation® announced today that 13 U.S. schools have been selected as Grammy® Signature Schools (www.grammyintheschools.com) for 2015 and have been awarded cash grants totaling $61,000. Created in 1998, the Grammy Signature Schools program recognizes the top U.S. public high schools that make an outstanding commitment to music education during an academic school year.

Yamaha Young Performing Artists Program Deadline on Feb. 28th

The applications deadline for YYPA is February 28th. 

The Yamaha Young Performing Artists Program (YYPA) was designed in 1988 to recognize outstanding young musicians from the world of classical, jazz and contemporary music. Hundreds of applicants, ages 18-22, apply annually and undergo a rigorous taped audition process for a panel of internationally acclaimed musicians.

Winners of the YYPA competition are invited to attend an all-expense paid weekend as part of the Music for All™ Summer Symposium. Through this experience, they receive a once-in-a-lifetime performance opportunity in front of thousands of students with national press coverage, are honored at an awards ceremony, receive a recording and photos of their live performance, and participate in professional workshops and clinics designed to launch a professional music career. The 2015 winners will join more than 200 other talented musicians who have earned the distinction since the program’s inception.

Emmanuel Villaume returns to conduct the Juilliard Orchestra on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 8 p.m. in Alice Tully Hall. The program features Stravinsky’s Feu d’artifice (Fireworks), Op. 4; Ravel’s La valse; Glazunov’s Violin Concerto in A Minor, Op. 82 with Juilliard violinist Lifan Zhu; and Pictures at an Exhibition by Mussorgsky (arr. Ravel).

Ten Music Teachers Finalists For Grammy Music Educator Award

A total of 10 music teachers from 10 cities across nine states have been announced as finalists for the second annual Music Educator Award presented by The Recording Academy and the Grammy Foundation. In total, more than 7,000 initial nominations were submitted from all 50 states.
