In Memoriam – Chris Brooks, Row-Loff Publishing, from Chris Crockerell

Publisher’s Note: The guys from Row-Loff were ever-present at MidWest and other conferences, always in whacky matching suits, jovial, fun to hang with, and I am terribly saddened to learn that Chris Brooks has passed. We helped them celebrate their 30th anniversary as publishers in 2019. Brooksie, you will be missed! – Mike Lawson

We’ll Miss Ya, Brooksie.

To all of our RLP friends and fans out there… As many of you know by now, we lost Chris Brooks (Brooksie) to a tragic fall on Wednesday. I apologize for the informity of this e-blast and any grammatical errors or misspellings… it’s early morning but I had to thank everyone that has reached out to us (so many) with heartfelt love, condolences and offerings of assistance. We’re still all a bit numb right now but wanted to make those of you aware that weren’t. He was working on his true retirement dream when the accident occured, his cabin in east TN, which he (and another 68 yr. old friend) built from the ground up.

Unfortunately, it didn’t get completely finished, but every week he drove up he would text and say “Everytime I walk out onto this porch, I’m in Heaven!” (It has quite the panoramic view.) He was my business partner for 33 years, great friend for 50 years as well as my drum instructor early on. He had a great natural feel to his playing, whether rudimental or on the kit. He could make things groove🙂 and was a true seasoned, talented musician. Again, thank you for all of the love sent our way, please keep his immediate family in your thoughts and prayers.

Most sincerely,

C. Crock
