The resources were selected from hundreds of published and online sources found in journals, magazines, music company catalogs and publications, numerous websites, doctoral dissertations, graduate theses, encyclopedias, various databases, and a great many books. Information was also solicited from college/university/school wind band directors and instrumental teachers. Section 1 includes general resources about music; section 2 is features specific resources like the heritage of wind ensembles, biographies of important figures, and archives; section 3 focuses on identifying important works for wind bands; section 4 is about library staffing and management.
