The Atlanta Music Project, started by classical bassoonist Dantes Rameau, now provides over 87 students at three different sites with a great way to get involved in music. All that’s required of the students is that they attend all rehearsals and performances. Parents pay for the classes on a sliding scale, according to their financial capabilities. The program has a budget of $500,000, generally funded by donations.

This past year, the group won a grant from the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation for over $120,000 which is planned to be used to create the Atlanta Music Project Academy, designed to offer private lessons to the top 22 players in the project and to offer them master classes. www.atlantamusicproject.org
