The program invited 104 willing students to rehearse, socialize, take lessons, and study intensive lectures with the orchestra in what amounted to a classical music lover’s fantasy camp. The move marked another step toward connecting with the orchestra’s audience as well as a strong new source of revenue – fees for academy students ranged from $1,750 to $3,000.
