All National Music Hosts Band Plus+ Virtual Festival

Mike Lawson • News • September 29, 2020

All National Music will hold the Band Plus+ virtual Marching Band Festival on Saturday, October 17 and the week of November 1. The festival will feature high school marching bands and orchestras from around the U.S. that are able to be together this fall, virtually from their home stadiums/field performance locations.

This event, in conjunction with All National Music’s Festivals Plus+ Virtual Events, features a top adjudication panel from world class music educators, directors, composers and musicians.

The 2020-21 exceptional panel of qualified judges includes Robert W. Smith, Ralph Ford, Chadwick Kamei, Susan L. Smith, Chris Cooper, Joe Fant, Vince Rosse, Jeffrey Rowser, Terrance Cobb, Deborah Bradley, Calvin Scott, Eddy Williams, Eric Bailey, Johnny Brewer, Chad Truitt, Devin Hoey, Johnny Folsom, Jr., Rusty Logan, Ph.D, Craig Arhus, Ph.D., and Ron Ellis. Each band will experience performing in a national adjudicated music festival virtually, earn meaningful awards, perform from their own performance home fields, have exclusive time slots with judges via video conference, and more as they present their marching bands.

This special event includes Marching Performance Adjudication from an exceptional panel of qualified judges in areas of Band in marching, music, and GE, Auxiliary, Percussion, and Drum Major. Bands will perform “live” by classification via virtual video presentation to the video call. There will also be a specific time slot for the directors/staff to join the virtual video conference adjudication for their band and get live feedback from the judges.

For the “Best of Friday Night Lights” event in November, directors will present their best video of the band from the 2020 Marching Season (Friday night football halftime shows, special community performance, best dress rehearsal run). There will be a dedicated phone number for your band audience to dial in and listen/view the performance adjudication live (up to 1000 audio call attendees). In addition, numerous awards will be presented, much like at a traditional marching festival/competition. These will be mailed to schools post-performance. Finally, the video conference with judge’s commentary will be available online and for download post-performance, as well as adjudication score sheets, and each specific judge’s audio commentary files. All registration and information is at www.allnationalmusic.com.

“I’d like to personally invite you to be a part of the very first Virtual Music Festival from All National Music,” says Doug Brasell, CEO, All National Music. “There are several bands around the country that are together and performing weekly but are limited to culminating performances for their efforts like never before. With so many things cancelled or not attainable this year for most ensembles, we wanted to create an environment to support music education, directors, their student musicians, and communities – tying in performance, education, technology and giving the students an opportunity to perform on a national stage virtually while gaining meaningful feedback from top adjudicators across the country. This virtual environment will be something we will provide for all music performing ensembles in our new event series for 2020-21, Festivals Plus+.”
