The Buffet Crampon Prodige performance oboe (BC4062-2-0P), first introduced in 2016 to replace the 4052 performance oboe, features important technical, aesthetic and acoustic improvements that will allow beginning and intermediate students, as well as experienced enthusiasts, to progress quickly. It is one of the only intermediate oboes offered with an African blackwood body, silver-plated keywork and a full conservatory system. Coupled with Buffet Crampon’s Luracast bore lining to prevent cracks from reaching the inner bore, the Prodige is the ideal performance-level oboe.
Instrument technicians in the workshops of Buffet Crampon completed an intense period of Research and Development to create an instrument with easy-to-play, accurate low notes that allow mastery of the most difficult range. Transition from one octave to another is smooth. The mechanisms are extremely precise and accurate.
Mastering sound output and controlling the airflow, which are so important for young players in the first years of study, are greatly facilitated.
Prodige’s sound, very rich and full, comes very close to replicating the sound of the Buffet Crampon professional oboes, the Prestige, Orfeo and Légende.
