Renowned entertainer Prince will be honored during a benefit concert for music education at Carnegie Hall on March 7. The show, which will be titled, “The Music of Prince” will feature a slew of performing artists, including Elvis Costello, Talib Kweli, Booker T. Jones, and the Blind Boys of Alabama, with the Roots serving as the house band. The event, put on by City Winery founder Michael Dorf, will serve as fundraiser for music education programs.
Groups that have previously benefited from the concerts include organizations like the Church Street School of Music, Music Unites and Young Audiences New York. This year’s show will assist Little Kids Rock, the Center for Arts Education, and several other groups. The Rolling Stones, Elton John and Bob Dylan are among the artists who have been honored in the past.
