The winter NAMM show was held this year in January at the Anaheim Convention Center. The show is a chance for vendors to show off their current lineup, and it features a dazzling array of just about every music-related product that you can imagine, and even some you can’t. There are countless performances and presentations at the various booths and some great concerts in the evening. It’s just a great experience.

Read More...As a music education advocate and strategist, I find the spring school budget season my most worrisome time of the year, because this is when districts lay out budget proposals for the next school year (my next most worrisome season is late summer when districts that have discretion to adjust expenses sometimes reduce funding to music education programs). Since it is now officially summer, we are almost out of the woods in terms of the preparation, review, and voting that occurs on school budgets for the upcoming school year.
Qualifying U.S. schools will be able to apply for grants through June 19, 2015, as well as September 14th through October 16th, 2015.

The annual Winter NAMM Show in Anaheim California is the place where hundreds of thousands of musical instruments, accessories, and related products are debuted to industry insiders. For the fourth consecutive year, educators at the music products convention combed the exhibit halls looking for the best products for classroom use in an array of different categories. Using an online voting process at sbomagazine.com and hard-copy ballots from attendees, music teachers made their selections, which culminated in a presentation of the 2014 Best Tools for Schools from the Winter NAMM Show.
