Mike Lawson • News • January 19, 2018

Conductor Nikolaj Znaider and pianist Saleem Ashkar will join the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) for concerts featuring Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20 and Elgar’s Symphony No. 2. Ashkar will be the featured soloist on the Mozart concerto.

The concerts take place Saturday, January 26 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, January 27 at 8 p.m. at Orchestra Hall, within Midtown Detroit’s Max M. and Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center.

The Sunday evening concert will be webcast for free at dso.org/live and via Facebook Live, as part of the DSO’s Live from Orchestra Hall series. The series is presented by Ford Motor Company Fund and made possible by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

One hour prior to each performance, patrons are invited to enjoy pre-concert talks about the program on the Orchestra Hall stage, hosted by conductor and composer Yaniv Segal.

The DSO Classical Series is generously sponsored by PVS Chemicals, Inc. The January 26 and 27 concerts are also sponsored by Warner Norcross & Judd LLP.
