Choral superstar Eric Whitacre is crowd-sourcing the funding for his “Virtual Choir 4: Bliss” through the popular Kickstarter website, through which artists offer rewards and prizes for pledges of financial contributions at various levels.
“The concept of the Virtual Choir is pretty simple,” notes Whitacre. “Singers from around the world upload their videos. They’re singing alone in their living rooms, their dorm rooms, their garages; all the videos are cut together and started them at the same time to create a Virtual Choir. Somehow it all comes together and we’re making music as one choir.”
Rewards for contributions include a personalized audio message from Eric Whitacre, a dress rehearsal pass for the DCINY ‘Sing with Eric’ performance at Carnegie Hall in March, which includes a special meet and greet with Eric, and more.
The Kickstarter campaign ends on January 31, and the Virtual Choir 4: Bliss will debut on Saturday, March 16, at the ACDA National Conference in Dallas, Texas.
