Radio Disney and Give a Note Foundation team up for the fourth annual Music In Our Schools Tour. This is part of an ongoing initiative to increase access to music education programs across the country.
Music In Our Schools Month® or “MIOSM®” is the National Association for Music Education annual celebration during March which engages music educators, students, and communities from around the country in promoting the benefits of high quality music education programs in schools.
This past year, Radio Disney artists visited schools and performed alongside students before presenting a grant to each school to fund their music program. This fourth tour will reach six schools across the nation. By joining forces with Radio Disney, this tour will have a farther reach than ever before.
“We are incredibly excited to expand our tour and provide additional grants this year,” said Give a Note Foundation CEO, Jane Balek. “Give a Note celebrates and supports school music programs around the country to highlight the importance of music education and the need for funding. We are so grateful to Radio Disney for their continued collaboration with us in this important work.”
“We are thrilled to be part of such an important cause for a fourth year. We hope that as this program continues to expand, we can continue to encourage students to embrace their talents and reinforce the importance of music education in our schools,” said Phil Guerini, Vice President, Music Strategy, Disney Channels Worldwide and General Manager, Radio Disney Networks.
To enter for a chance to be one of the six schools awarded a grant during the 2017 Music In Our Schools Tour, schools need to submit a 30- to 60-second video of their ensemble performing a song that inspires them—it could be a school song or a planned performance. Visit bit.ly/MIOStour2017 for rules and submission details. The deadline to submit video entries is November 10, 2016. Follow the hashtag #MusicInspires for updates.
