The Guitar Center Corporate Giving Program donated $10,000 worth of equipment to support music education at Johnson City High School.
“Overall, the company’s motto is, ‘We help people make music’ and a big part of that is getting youth involved,” said Gordon Gottlieb, Guitar Center Johnson City. “At the corporate level, they go through all the applications and they decide who they feel that should get the donation. This is the biggest one I’ve seen, so Johnson City must have had a heck of an application.”
“It’s pretty exciting because it’s opened up a lot more doors than before in concert band and pit orchestra and stuff like that,” said Johnson City High School senior Robert Hughes.
