Hal Leonard has hired Gregory Roman to be the general manager of their online general music program, Essential Elements Music Class. In this new role, Roman will oversee content development, curriculum, sales, and more.
Roman holds a master’s degree from the University of South Florida in music performance and education. He was a music educator in Florida for many years and then a sales executive in educational music publishing and online music education.
“We are excited to have Greg join our team,” said Jeff Schroedl, executive vice president of Hal Leonard. “We were lucky to find someone with the combination of extensive music and business background to oversee Essential Elements Music Class. We look forward to him leading EEMC into its next phase, especially at this time when online learning is more important than ever.”
Hal Leonard launched the Essential Elements Music Class pilot program last year and it is already used by thousands of teachers nationwide. It is a cloud-based, interactive teaching solution for K-5 general music classes. The program already features over 400 songs with recordings, listening maps, interactive games and activities, and recorder and ukulele units. It is continually adding new songs and resources.
The program proved especially helpful for teachers who were thrust into online learning earlier this year. EEMC quickly adapted its policies to permit sharing Playlists and Class Collections easily for students and extended its free trial period to make sure teachers could use it for free until the end of their school year.
