Could a singing competition be coming to a state fair near you? Maybe so, if you live in Indiana. Starting this year, the Indiana State Fair will be staging a singing competition called the “Vocal Throwdown,” which features a grand prize of $500. Second and third place winners will also receive cash. Competitors must be “non-professional singers” who live in Indiana and are no older than 21.
The competition includes a junior division (ages 6-15) and a senior division (ages 16-21). People interested in entering should submit a five-minute video on the Indiana State Fair’s website or Facebook page. Entries will be accepted until June 28.
From July 5-21, the videos will be on the fair’s Facebook page where they’ll compete for the most votes. The top 10 performing videos will get to compete on Aug. 3 at the fair, where a panel of judges will cut the competitors down to a final five. The top five singers will perform on Aug. 10, when winners will be chosen.
