Jody Espina, the founder and president of JodyJazz Inc, recently completed a masterclass, clinic, and concert tour of Southeast Asia.
The two-week trip included stops in Singapore, Indonesia, and Thailand, as well as presentations at high schools, music schools, community jazz bands, and music stores.
In Singapore, he conducted a workshop with the City Swing Community Jazz Big Band, made presentations to both the middle schoolers and high schoolers of the United World College International School, and held a masterclass at the B28 Jazz Club.
In Indonesia, Espina participated in clinics and performances in Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, and Yogyakarta. In Jakartra specifically, he performed at the ‘iCanStudioLive’ live auditorium with JodyJazz artist Ricad Hutapea. His masterclass in Surabaya offered a personalized mouthpiece fitting session for the saxophone students of the Jazz Centrum music school.
While in Thailand, Espina attended a concert at the Saxophone Pub with KOH Mr. Saxman and his band, and hosted an afternoon clinic at the Saxsociety store. On the last day of his trip, he was the featured performer at the Jazz Club in the upscale VIE Hotel.
