Music & Arts has opened nominations for the company’s 2017 Music Educator of the Year award, which annually recognizes one outstanding music educator.
Full-time public, private or homeschool music teachers who teach kindergarten through collegiate levels are eligible to be nominated for the award. The winner and two runners-up will be announced on December 21 at the annual Music & Arts Midwest reception. Winners will receive funds that can be used towards educational resources, as well as publicity opportunities and additional prizes.
“It’s our opportunity to thank music educators for the excellent work they produce with limited resources. They go above and beyond the call of duty to meet the needs of their students. For that, we celebrate them!” says Steve Zapf, president of Music & Arts.
A Music & Arts committee will select 25 semi-finalists and then open public voting for the “People’s Choice Awards,” which will be announced on December 19.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated growth in their music education program, in addition to leadership and positive influence in their community.
