New York Philharmonic Young People’s Concerts

Mike Lawson • News • December 30, 2016

The 94th season of the New York Philharmonic Young People’s Concerts (YPCs) will continue on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. with “Romantic,” the third program in this season’s series, The Ages of Music — each program exploring the sound, composers, and culture of the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Modern eras, respectively.

The program will feature selections from Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, From the New World, as well as works by Very Young Composers of New York City, all first- or second-generation immigrants, inspired by Dvořák’s New World Symphony and its theme of home. Assistant Conductor Joshua Gersen will conduct the program; Vice President, Education, Theodore Wiprud will host the event, which will also feature baritone Stephen Salters and be directed and scripted by Kevin Del Aguila
