The Conn-Selmer Division of Education has announced that they have added North Carolina A&T State University of Greensboro, North Carolina, to its growing list of institutions who are part of the Conn-Selmer School Partnership Program.

The program provides access to discounted instrument purchase and lease options, Conn-Selmer educational clinicians, instrument inventory management support, and scholarships for music education students and directors to attend Conn-Selmer Institute – the preeminent annual event focused on advancing music education across the nation.

Conn-Selmer partnered with North Carolina A&T’s assistant director of bands, Thomas G. Warner Jr., to facilitate this long term partnership.

“I decided to utilize the Conn-Selmer Partnership Program because of recommendations from other colleagues who utilized the program,” said Warner. “I have heard nothing but good things. In addition, I have worked with Conn-Selmer through other professional organizations and they have been very helpful in promoting music in many forms. Conn-Selmer and its Division of Education have always been very involved and hands on. Not only have they advocated for music education, they have also provided opportunities and programs to HBCU’s students.”

The NC A&T State University Blue & Gold Marching Machine operates under the leadership of Dr. Kenneth Ruff and performs at a variety of school and community functions. The band consists of approximately 200 members from very diverse majors and concentrations.

“The Blue and Gold Marching Machine of North Carolina A&T is a program full of history and tradition,” Michael Kamphuis, Conn-Selmer managing director of the Division of Education. “We are proud to partner with the university to not only support its marching program, but also its concert band programs. We look forward to a long-term collaboration to support the journey for future music educators and performers in the North Carolina A&T program.”
