It is a strange and trying time for all of us in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. We certainly understand times are tough for you, as it is for us. We have been proud to bring School Band & Orchestra for free for more than two decades and we will continue to provide you with free subscriptions during the pandemic. However, we would like your consideration in these difficult times to help support our efforts here at School Band & Orchestra to keep our information flowing and to provide you with a continuous stream of current and vital information when you need it the most.

SBO’s 2015 Essay Scholarship Contest deadline is fast approaching. Music students in grades four through 12 can enter by answering in 250 words or less this question: How does your music class prepare you for life?
A panel of judges will select 10 winning essays from grades 4-8 and another 10 from grades 9-12. Winning students will each receive a share of $10,000 in music scholarships, with their winning school music programs receiving a share of an additional $10,000 worth of music products from sponsors Sabian, Woodwind & Brasswind, Alfred Music Publishing, Yamaha, Belwin, and NAMM.
Winning essays will also appear in a future issue of SBO magazine. The deadline for submissions is December 31, 2014.
