S.E. Shires makes a big splash in the jazz market with jazz trumpets.
S.E. Shires has incorporated the best aspects of prized vintage horns with modern centering and intonation. This new line of commercial model trumpets, model numbers beginning with CVLA, feature the broadest S.E. Shires bell taper which produces a wide variety of tone colors easily produced throughout the range of the instrument. And narrow bracing contributes to the instrument’s superlative response and ease of attack. Additionally, various bore options and extra lightweight bell creates a very responsive horn with a large projecting sound.
“These are the perfect combination of efficiency and stability,” says Tucker Barney, one of the craftspeople at S.E. Shires Boston workshop. “The effortless flexibility and precise slotting in ALL registers and amazing initial response combine to give the working commercial player the dependability that we all look for in our equipment.”
The three models include a .454 medium bore Bb trumpet, a .462 large bore Bb trumpet, and a .465 extra-large bore trumpet. Amazingly open and efficient, the sound is colorful and flexible with strong slotting in the upper register. These instruments were created in collaboration with the highest discerning commercial players in mind, perfect for serious students and serious professionals alike.
Josh Whitehouse of Milano Music in Phoenix, Arizona adds: “S. E. Shires is a company that never ceases to innovate. To better address the commercial trumpet market, they’ve introduced three completely new models in different bore sizes to suit the needs of players with different requirements. Their attention to detail and to satisfying the highest level of an individual musician’s needs is unparalleled in the industry.”
