Student Band Manager!

Mike Lawson • Playing Tips • June 6, 2019

Some of the logistics of running an ensemble can be cumbersome. To alleviate this, I hire a student in the ensemble to serve as the Band Manager for the school year.

Their tasks include taking attendance, collecting late passes, distributing forms, keeping track of seating charts, collecting paperwork, and keeping a watch on the clock to ensure that I give the students enough time for dismissal. All of this helps me do what I love most, teach music. To help keep everything legitimate, I never allow the student to be involved with anything regarding grades. This helps avoid any conflict. The Band Manager collects a salary of additional points on their class participation grade!
