2016 marks the milestone fifth anniversary of the founding of Give a Note Foundation.
Give a Note was created in 2011 by the National Association for Music Education with a vision of giving every child the opportunity to participate in school music programs. Its first five years of strategic collaborations and growing reach in the music education philanthropy space was recently honored by ASAE: The Center for Association Leadership, which awarded Give a Note Foundation a 2016 Power of A Gold Award. Give a Note was one of 30 Gold winners, out of 140 submissions.
Over the past five years, Give a Note has collaborated with 21st Century Fox, Disney Performing Arts, CMA Foundation, Radio Disney, and others to reach more than 100 schools and more than 40,000 students in 35 states with $1.2 million in grants for school music programs. In 2011 Give a Note Foundation, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, and the TV show, Glee launched the Glee Give a Note campaign. Since then, Give a Note has conducted three “Music in Our Schools Tours,” the latest this year reaching a wider audience than ever before, thanks to the generosity of Radio Disney. Further, the CMA Foundation’s $150,000 grant last fall has provided for critical research to help pinpoint the communities of greatest need and what those specific needs are.
