We have been proud to bring School Band & Orchestra for free for more than two decades and we will continue to provide you with free subscriptions during the pandemic. SBO has received word that Leon Louis Galison, music industry veteran, passed away on January 11, while surrounded by loved ones. He was 64.
Galison was born in New York on June 18, 1955. He graduated from the University of Miami in 1977 with a degree in Business Administration. Both a RPMDA and ABA Associates member, Galison worked for the family business, Edwin F. Kalmus & Co., for 45 years.
Leon is survived by his wife of 29 years Robin, children Philip (Angela), Joseph (Jessica), Rori (Jason) and Michelle; his mother Joan E. Galison, brother Fredrick Galison and sister Pamela Matsil; his grandchildren Jordan, Lauren, Jack, Dylan, Elijah, Jacob, and Charlie, along with many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, his family is requesting donations be made to the American Bandmasters Association.
