WQXR Radio in New York, NY

For the 10th consecutive season, Carnegie Hall and WQXR have united to present Carnegie Hall Live, a series of taped broadcast concerts that had been performed live at the venue over the last nine years. Jeff Spurgeon hosts the programs, which air Thursdays through the summer, from June 3 through August 26.

The series kicked off June 3 with a focus on American composers, then continued June 10 with some of the best piano performances from the last ten years. On June 17, the focus shifted to an encore performance of Bach’s St. John Passion from Canadian conductor Bernard Labadie. The June 24 episode featured the St. Lawrence Quartet, Pavel Haas and Elias Quartet.

Other highlights of the Summer 2021 season include performances by the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America over the years with conductors Marin Alsop, Sir Antonio Pappano, and David Robertson.

All Carnegie Hall Live broadcasts will air locally on New York’s classical music station WQXR FM on Thursdays at 9pm ET and will be available to digital audiences on-demand at wqxr.org, and carnegiehall.org. In addition, the series is airing on public radio stations across the country throughout the year.
